Greyhounds goaltender Robin Lehner made 23 saves as Sault Ste. Marie shuout the Belleville Bulls 6-0 at the Yardmen Arena.
The Greyhounds enjoyed a strong effort from Brett Thompson, who scored twice en route to the team’s 25th win of the season. Thompson scored his 27th of the season, a power-play marker late in the first period to give his team a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Middway through the second period, Vern Cooper extended his team’s lead with his 24th goal of the year, another power-play marker. Jordan Nolan and Thompson (his second of the night) struck quickly late in the frame to stake their team to a comfortable 4-0 lead at the second intermission.
In the third period the rout was on as Brandon Archibald scored halfway through the frame and Carson Dubchak added a late goal for good measure as the Greyhounds staked away with the 6-0 win.
