The Napanee Raiders got back into the win column with a 5-3 victory over the Port Hope Panthers in Empire Jr. C action in Napanee on Tuesday.
Peter Roy led the way offensively, scoring the winning goal in the second period and adding two assists in the game.
Daniel Long and Evan Culbert got the Raiders on the board early with Long scoring just 15 seconds into the game and Culbert adding to the lead a little more than two minutes later.
Port Hope responded with a goal early in the second period but Trevor Sweetland restored the lead two minutes later. Roy scored what proved to be the game-winner on an unassisted effort midway through the second period.
Port Hope scored twice to close the lead to one before David Cozzi rounded out the scoring with a short-handed goal early in the third period.
Culbert, Tyson Geick, Adam Ruffolo and Murray Hodgson also picked up assists and Zak Vandenburg made 31 saves in the win.
Jessie Sheppard had two goals and an assist for Port Hope and moved to within one point of Ruffolo for the division scoring lead.
It was the Raiders’ fourth win in the past five games and was a nice rebound from Sunday’s 3-2 loss in Amherstview.
Napanee (8-2-1) leads the Division A standings with 17 points in 11 games and return to action on Thursday when they travel to Picton to take on the Pirates (5-3-1).
